Happy Valentine's Day

A very Happy Valentine's Day to all of the love birds out there.  Sebastian sends his best... many slobbers, giggles, hair-pulls, and squeezes.  We were considering dressing him up as Cupid but we couldn't find wings and we thought a bow and arrow seemed dangerous.  Check back here throughout the day as I plan on posting new pictures as I take them.  Sebastian is currently asleep so I will be avoiding flash photography for the moment.

We had a lovely weekend.  We were able to catch up with Walid, Zoe, and Sienna on Saturday.  Sienna gave us a preview of what we have to look forward to in about a year.  She managed to take every book off of the shelf, put every pillow on the floor, and spit out all of the food I made.  We thought it was pretty funny but there is a chance that it might be less humorous if it is a daily occurrence.  Best of all, we had a chance to see Walid's "serious face."  He was telling Sienna that she needed to eat her food and not throw it on the ground.  Personally, I would have called his bluff from a mile away.  Sienna is going to own him in about 2 years.

Sebastian has become very Skype savvy as of late.  He had a Skype date with The Poobah and Nana on Sunday, a Skype date with the Kaisers and DeLisles Sunday evening and a Skype date with great-Bubie and Zadie this morning.  Uncle Mark is by far Sebastian's most frequent Skype playmate though.  It is wonderful that we can actually see everyone!

Leave us a note and let us know what you are up to for Valentine's Day.  Thanks to Matt's computer skills, we have now loosened the restrictions on commenting on the blog.  I wasn't aware that people were having difficulty commenting.  Hopefully, no one should have an issue now.

Happy birthday Grand Poobah!

Today is Sebastian's Grand Poobah's (aka, Grandpa Howard's) 64th birthday!  Sebastian wanted to wish his grandfather a very happy birthday so we decided to make a sign.  Unfortunately, Sebastian then decided he was hungry so he ate the sign.  Photo montage below...  At some point during the photo session, he also decided to poop.  I think I can tell by the facial expression where the pooping happened!  Ha ha... Happy birthday Dad!  We wish we were there to celebrate.

Babyfest 2011

Sebastian has an ever-expanding group of playmates!  This past weekend we had the opportunity to meet Dave and Sharon Delman's son, Jules.  Jules was born in October.  Due to everyone's busy schedules, we hadn't had the opportunity to meet the little guy until just now.  Jules' joins his proud older sister Joni as being one of the cutest kids in town!

In other news, Sebastian did NOT watch the Superbowl.  Everyone keeps asking us this!  Considering that his bedtime is somewhere around 7-8pm, late night activities don't exactly work.

Speaking of late night activities, Matt mentioned in the last post that we were in the process of weaning Sebastian's first night feeding.  I am proud to report that progress has been made!  The first two nights were brutal.  Asking Sebastian to go to bed without food had a similar response as pulling off his toenails.  The first night he screamed for about 1 hour and 40 minutes (on and off).  The second night he screamed for closer to 2 hours.  But last night, amazingly, he woke up at the same time but was back asleep in 10 minutes.  While I acknowledge that last night may have been a fluke, I am hoping we are getting somewhere.

In about a week or so, we will be introducing veggies!  So, pictures of green and orange regurgitation will be coming your way shortly.

As a side note for all of our devoted fans, please do not take it personally if we aren't responding to emails, phone calls, etc. quickly.  I am trying to be a good mother and housewife during the day (laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc.) and I am also trying to study for my Adult Nurse Practitioner exam at night.  Needless to say, I feel as though I am spread rather thinly.  Bare with us, we are getting there.

Thus Spoke Daddy

That's correct...Matt is writing a blog post.
February is here and Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow.  I don't blame him, I can't even see my car with all this snow.  However, the absence of shadow means an early spring.  We can only hope.

In other news, Anna has gone back to work.  She will be working as a nurse for a home health organization.  It's not her ideal job, but in this market we are happy that she has any job.  Also, this job affords her a lot of flexibility in terms of her schedule, so that we can try to minimize child care and maximize time with Sebasatian.  Anna has also been busy re-sharpening her domestic skills.  To sustain us through blizzard season, Anna decided to roast a 13lb turkey, complete with delicious gravy.  She did a brilliant job. If anybody wants turkey, we've got leftovers.

I, on the other hand, have infiltrated the land of the mole people: Radiologists.  Seriously, these people sit in a dark room all day staring at computer monitors.  And I watch them do that.  Imagine my excitement.

On to the cuteness, Sebastian continues to be as cute and happy as ever.  However, tonight we attempt to remove his first bottle of the night, in the hopes that he will learn to put himself back to sleep without a bottle.  Wish us luck.  We're gonna need it, especially as Sebastian seems to be going into a punk phase, as you will see in his pictures.

This is Daddy, signing off.
