Sebastian's first Thanksgiving

Ah... so I am starting this entry, AGAIN.  I had one of those episodes where the text is accidentally deleted after considerable time spent typing.  So annoying!

Anyway...  Sebastian officially survived his first Foon Thanksgiving and I do mean, survived. This year will go down in Feldman Thanksgiving history as the year of the stomach flu.  The Poobah's brother, Mr. Uncle Barry, and his wife, D.H., came to visit us from Brazil.  They arrived on Monday night with what they thought was food poisoning.  Needless to say, it wasn't food poisoning.  By Friday, Julian, Bob, and both of my parents were extremely sick.  Matt and I felt weak and feverish for several days but managed to avoid further illness.  Fortunately, Sebastian came out of the week completely healthy.  We are very thankful that he continues to be his usual delightful self.

Illness aside, it was great to see everyone.  Julian held Sebastian for about 60 seconds right before heading back to London but he still put in baby time.  Friends Sarah, Erica, Eric, and Echo came for the festivities (fortunately, they all remained healthy as well).  We took our annual t-shirt picture (see below).  The movie of the year was RED.  I can't say that I want to see the movie but the shirts contributed to Sebastian's first year of tradition.

We hope that everyone enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving.  We also hope that no one else got the stomach flu!  We are heading back to Boston, begrudgingly, on Sunday.  Oregon has been great and we are sad to go!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Matt's 31st birthday was on Monday, November 22nd.  Unfortunately, Matt spent the entire day interviewing in Arizona and/or in transit back to Oregon.  He did make it back to Roseburg as of 12:30am on November 23rd.  I stayed up and waited for him to get home.  Matt and Julian were on the same flight so I was excited to see both of the boys.  Sebastian was unable to stay awake as it was way past him bedtime.  We enjoyed a piece of coconut cake at midnight but we also sang a "Happy Birthday" last night.  Matt was nice enough to humor us and blow out his candles twice.

Catching up

We are now back in Roseburg.  Matt finished his rotation at OHSU on Thursday so we drove back to Roseburg that evening.  I'd like to say I explored Portland but I really didn't have the opportunity.  Sebastian and I spent a lot of time relaxing together during the days while Matt was at the hospital.  We were dog sitting for a friend of a friend so we did spend a good deal of time walking the dog and getting fresh air.  Sebastian actually likes the rain!  He didn't love getting licked by the dog but he tolerated it.

The last night we were in Portland, we stayed at a rather nice hotel.  Since it was Sebastian's first experience in a hotel, I thought we should stay somewhere fun.  We stayed at a beautiful place in  Northwest Portland.  Sebastian joined us for happy hour in the lounge where we had a delicious dinner.  Unfortunately, Sebastian may have kept up the neighbors during the night.  He also felt the need to urinate on the carpet in our room...  Oops.

The only pictures I was able to snap were taken from my phone.  And, I have a few photos to add that were taken right before we left for Portland.  I promise we will take a lot of pictures this week when everyone is visiting.

Chillin at the ranch

Sebastian is currently taking his afternoon nap in my left arm so please forgive my typos.  This week has been another relaxing week in Roseburg.  Baby boy continues to see new things in his wold every day.  Yesterday, we decided to get him a mobile because he has spent far too much time entranced by light fixtures.  There wasn't a great selection in Roseburg but we managed to find a decent animal mobile.  He now spends hours staring at his piggy, cow, dog, and donkey.

We have also discovered that Sebastian loves the outdoors!  He is content to be outside for any amount of time.  He loves the sounds of the chickens and he giggles when we swing him on the hammock.  I am beginning to think that biking is going to be the perfect activity for this boy as he loves fresh air and he kicks his legs incessantly.  Sebastian is likely going to be a child who goes from crawling to running in about 5 minutes.  I love that he is energetic but I am also terrified.  I envision myself chasing him already.

As of tomorrow, Sebastian and I will be relocating to Portland for the week.  We are very excited to be with Matt but we know we will miss Nana's help.  We will all be back in Roseburg on Thursday the 18th.  Matt will be heading to Arizona for a short trip on the 21st to interview at The Mayo Clinic.  Fortunately, after his AZ interview, we will get to spend an uninterrupted Thanksgiving together with family and friends.  Yay!!
